About Shelly

Shelly Rachanow comes from a long line of butt-kicking women. Her grandmother raised four kids on her own and worked outside the home at a time when women weren’t supposed to do either. Her mother routinely fought for better sidewalks, programs, and laws for the disabled while still managing to have time for her children (not to mention dinner on the table) every night.

In 2003, Shelly decided to follow her dream and move to California so she could write books that inspire and empower others to live the life of their dreams. Her first book, If Women Ran the World, Sh*t Would Get Done, celebrates women and the fabulous things we do. In that book, Shelly asked a question…What would you do if YOU ran the world?...that really resonated with her thousands of readers. Many sent letters and emails answering her question by sharing great ideas for making the world a better place. The success of Shelly’s first book, which has already received multiple printings and a foreign translation, and the response from her readers inspired Shelly to write What Would You Do If YOU Ran the World?

Helen Keller once said,

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

It is Shelly’s hope that What Would You Do If YOU Ran the World? inspires people around the world to do the “something” they can do to make the world a better place…so that together we can make the kind of beautiful difference and create the kind of beautiful future everyone deserves!
